Description
Rubber and brass
These are used primarily to attach items such as kayak footbraces and other pieces of hardware to plastic boats. They work by expanding behind the surface as shown in the photo below. First a hole is drilled, then the well nut is inserted. Once the screw is tightened, the back part of the well nut expands preventing it from coming out.
