Description
Aluminum & Acetal
This exciting new cleat will release a line when a set load is exceeded. It's perfect for a hold down for pivoting rudders and leeboards! The cleat flips up to release the rope when a set load is exceeded. The SD002570 is easily re-set or adjusted for different release loads, even out on the water.

After fitting the SD002570, (see fitting instructions below) start with the load adjustment cam set to Minimum. Increase the release load in small steps to avoid damage to equipment. Our tests show that release loads can be varied between 25kg & 240kg (50lb & 520lb). Note that smaller or worn ropes release at higher loads than larger or new ropes. Instructions are included with each SD002570. |

1. Test Release load with "cam" at "minimum setting". Smaller or worn ropes release at higher loads than larger or new ropes.
Feedback: From Dave Tolan - http://davesboat.blogspot.com/ Be careful with installing this little device. The angle of the line to the device massively impacts the release force required. In the simple case of the cleat being flat on top of the centreboard, if the line angles up to the cleat the release load is significantly increased, if the line leads down to the cleat, it is significantly reduced. |
