Description
This is a suppliment - you also need Exe Dory plans to build this boat
Based upon two EXE DORY hulls, this nippy little catarmaran makes the ideal beach boat and swimming platform for the family. Existing EXE DORIES can be converted and the whole catarmaran is demountable for easy transport. So, instead of having a catarmaran, you in fact have, an exciting beachboat/catarmaran converting to two rowing/training dories. Construction for the hulls is the same as that for the EXE DORIES using simple stitch and tape techniques. Each 14’ dory requires three sheets of 1/4’’ plywood and weighs approximately 70 lbs. The DOCAT has a sail area of 70 sq.ft. and uses a similar sail plan to that of the Highlander 12. However, if you have a spare rig from a similar sized boat, this could also be incorporated. The beam of a 14’ EXE hull is 3’11’’ across the gunwale and 2’ across the chine.
