Description
A neat little ply sharpie of simple and cheap construction with 4 berths (and room in the cockpit for more) for exploring estuaries and gunkholing. With it's simple unstayed rig, it is ideal for the small family. Uses disposable sand or gravel ballast. Based upon the North American working sharpie. May be built with centreboard. Construction is similar to our Song Thrush using pre-shaped ply bulkheads and girders locked together with the hull bottom panel to form a strong prefabricated structure to which the sides are added.
Note - details are also given for 2 alternative keel arrangements - a central ballast keel box with plate bilge keels (draft 1'11" (0.58m) and a pivoted centreboard.
Details of an outboard well are also included.
