Description
The inspiration for the Cygnet Two originally came from barge yachts which were yachts based on traditional Thames sailing Barges with their single chine flat bottomed hull form. As the concept moved forward, we decided to give the hull shape more 'form' so that it was not so slab sided and had a narrower flat bottom with an additional 2 chines.
Because the yacht was to be primarily used on the UK East Coast with it's shallow waters, the idea of having a low draft yacht, like the barges, remained and it was decided to offer a number of keel arrangements - the primary set-up was to have a long shallow central ballast keel paired with steel bilge keels.
The second keel arrangement was to keep the long shallow ballast keel and to replace the bilge keels with an offset steel pivoted board working in one of the bunk/seat fronts. Lastly, it was decided to have the option of a deeper central keel without bilge or pivoted keels and the drawings have a note on this.
It was also decided, like many of the Broads boats to show the option of having a lift-able portion to the coachroof to give additional headroom at anchor.
The accommodation has 4 berths and small galley and wc compartment and construction is ply over frame.
