Description
For those who want to build a classically designed double ended clinker craft, this boat has been developed from the Shetland Skiff and North American Peapod dinghy. Construction is greatly simplified from the conventional clinker method and kept to a low cost by using a stringer system to which 1/4" ply strakes are pinned and shaped to form a simple clinker hull with no steam bent frames or conventional copper riveting. The stringers are initially positioned over temporary chipboard moulds and fastened to a backbone and the ply planks are then cut oversize and glued to the stringers before trimming to size. She is a graceful craft for the more advanced builder or the beginner willing to study, practice and take his time. Beam is 4' 9". The plans are on a single sheet showing lines, offsets, basic construction method and sprit sail plan. Details are also given of an alternative gunter sail plan and centreboard arrangement.
