Description

The Pipit has been modeled on the old Hampton type "Flattie" which has a flat bottom over most of it's length running into a moderate "V" aft towards the transom. The bottom also has a reasonable amount of rocker fore and aft and this combination with well flaired topsides on a relatively narrow hull (by modern standards) make for a fast easily driven hull shape which is also easy to construct. The plans show the ply hull panel shapes for stitch and epoxy construction along with the shapes of the centreboard case, transom and frames, making this a very easy boat to build. There is room for dry stowage fore and aft (or built-in buoyancy) and with a boom tent she could easily be slept on. She can either have the old Una rig with single sail or a sloop rig and she may use a weighted ply or steel centreplate.
