Description
The Ariel pram dinghy was originally designed for Joseph Thompson & Co. Ltd., for them to produce in kit form to promote their Cedar Speed Strip product. Speed Strip is still available from them but they are no longer producing the kits and the plans, with full size mould shapes are now available from ourselves. The Ariel was based upon our Skylark 8 multi-chine pram dinghy which has proven very successful as a tender, small sailing dinghy and car toppable fishing dinghy. For those wanting to build a strip planked craft either because they want a small boat or for those who want to try the strip plank construction method before tackling something bigger, the Ariel is ideal. Although conceived basically as a rowing or motoring dinghy, we can give details for the rudder, daggerboard and simple lug rig off one of our other pram dinghy designs.
