This is a multi-chine plywood entrant for the Mini-Transat race which takes competitors across the Atlantic to Antigua via the Canary Islands. It is known as one of yachting's most dangerous races and is fought by boats with a maximum length of 6.5m. We have been asked to draw up a design for a Canadian client which uses standard stitch and tape building methods with non exotic materials for amateur construction. She incorporates water ballast along with a lead ballasted bulb on a high aspect ratio keel, inclined twin rudders and built-buoyancy. Whilst designed for a specific race, she would provide fast exciting sailing in coastal waters (the keel can be raised for easy transport) and has room for more than the 2 berths shown.
