Headwater Transport 9.9 Planing Pram

Designed by Tracy O’Brien

Most Pram dinghies are essentially rowing or sailing boats, which limits their speed potential to a mere 3 or 4 knots. But the car-top able HEADWATER TRANSPORT 9.9 instead features a constant deadrise 10 deg. V-bottom Planing Hull  with lifting chine strips that lets you break the displacement speed barrier. And you’ll do it with no more than a 7.5HP motor. Using simple, strong, lightweight STITCH & GLUE methods, construction couldn’t be easier or faster. Plywood panels(3/8” bottom; ¼” sides) are sawn to shape using the panel layouts provided. Seams are stitched together forming the hull in the process, which is then epoxy-bonded together with all exposed surfaces encapsulated with epoxy and the hull’s exterior sheathed in epoxy-bonded fiberglass cloth. Bow and stern seats provide level flotation if the hull is swamped, and also provide dry storage if watertight closures are installed.

Plans consist of four 11"x17" CADD drawings, Nine typewritten pages of Instructions, and a four page instructions sheet on scarph joining plywood and solid lumber. Recommended power is by short-shaft outboard up to 7.5HP. (Can also be rowed or powered by a trolling motor) A complete materials list is included Plans.
