HEADWATER 16’ & 18’ POWER DORIES

Designed by Tracy O’Brien

These Boats offer the proven stability and load carrying Ability typical of their famed Oregon Dory ancestors. The difference is that these are built with modern, strong, Stitch & Glue methods for fast and easy construction, even for first time builders. Plywood panels are sawn to shape using the panel layouts provided. Seams are stitched together, forming the hull in the process, which is then epoxy bonded together with all exposed surfaces encapsulated with epoxy and the hull exterior sheathed in epoxy bonded fiberglass cloth.

Designed to meet the needs of sport and commercial fishermen, divers, and professional guides, these boats perform as good as they look! High speed turns are executed with precision, without a hint of skipping, thanks to multiple hardwood shoes and wedges on the transom heel. Speeds in excess of 40Mph have been achieved in the H-18 with a 55HP outboard, yet their flat bottomed hulls with their fine, flared bows ride both easy and dry. And with their rockered bottom panels they are easy to launch or beach. The H-18 was designed and the plans released in 1985, and was well received by the boating community. The H-16, (which is a scale version of the H-18) was released a couple of years later to answer requests for a smaller version of the H-18.
