Headwater LS-16D
Build in Stitch & Glue Plywood!
Designed by Tracy O’Brien
The Headwater Low Sided 16’ Drift Boat has been developed for use as a whitewater guide boat with a carrying capacity of up to four adults. Her pilot’s seat location and rowing geometry retains the configuration of the highly successful Headwater 14, with swivel seating for one or two passengers forward of the pilot’s seat and a set of knee chocks attached to the aft face of the forward deck. A third set of seat mounting holes are shown in the drawings to provide for a single passenger seat located on the hull’s centerline. Sealed flotation and dry stowage are provided beneath the aft seat platform and below the forward casting deck. Additional flotation is provided when the optional sponson seat support and external rail configuration. Is chosen. The 1/2” plywood bottom is scarfed up with the face grain of the panels running across the width of the hull: This stiffens the hull bottom port to starboard and allows the bottom panel to take a smoother, more natural curve fore and aft.
