This design cost me more time than I thought it would, but the result is precisely what I wanted: an easy to built boat with a lot of possibilities for the weekend sailor.

With its beam of only 2,30m (7 feet, 8 inches) it is easy to trailer. It is quick to rig - the light windsurfer masts with their extensions are set in minutes.

She is a fast sailor which can handle a lot of wind through the low center of pressure of the parallel biplane rig. The sails are furled around the masts for easy handling. The roller/sails can be handled from the cockpit.

The DUO480 has a small cabin for gear and a toilet. With some provisions, two persons can sleep on the boat. The big cockpit suits either exciting or lazy days on the water. There is a long version option with a double bunk in the cabin. Best of all, you will not be broke on launch day.

The boat is easy to build. An average amateur can built this boat in around 300 hours. We use the time proven matched hole technique adapted from aluminum aircraft construction. No strong back is needed as the asymmetrical hulls are self aligning.

Like all my other designs the proven plywood/glass/Epoxy system is used.

A lot of hardware can be built to save money, for example, the plans show how to build your own gudgeons, sail rollers, booms and boom rotator.

Numerous drawings and an almost step by step set of instructions will give the builder the confidence to successful build this boat.
