Alfred W. Davis
A 26’ Trailerable Utility Cruiser
Designed by Tracy O’Brien
The Alfred W. Davis was born from a set of sketches for a tender drawn up for a boater in Maryland who needed to access his restored P-T boat at it’s river mooring. The A. W. Davis’ drawings were developed for taped seam construction using Generic CADD release 6, and were made available in 1991. The first example built to these plans was commissioned by a businessman from Bonney Lake, Washington for use in a fishery out of Neah Bay. This example was built at 22’, per the owner’s request, and was fitted with a 120hp Volvo-Penta I/O. Subsequent builds include a beautiful owner-built example used in Juneau, Alaska for halibut fishing, and a 32ft version built in Arlington, VA, and fitted with a Cummins diesel and marine transmission. This design features a semi-deep V hull with 12 degrees of deadrise at the transom. Easy frameless plywood construction is quickly assembled using stitch-glue methods for strength and light weight. Cabin size and interior layout can be arranged to suit the builder’s needs or omitted entirely. Power comes from single or dual outboards, single I/O, or inboard with V- drive up to 1000LB’ total.
